I got a fairly stock 87 442 with a 307. The problem I have is the engine bay looks terribile. There's to a lot of hoses and lines running every where. I also have my aircondtioning pump and one next to (think air pump) I want to remove to make It look nicer. Will this effect anything and what all can I remove and not screw everything up.

I bought mine with the computer already removed but one that's taken care of you can pretty much go to town removing smog hoses.
You will probably need to go to the hardware store a few times to pick up rubber caps to seal off any vacuums. Good rule of thumb is when the car is running put your finger over the holes on the side of the carb. The ones that suck air leave alone, the ones that don't you will probably need to cap off. Also, you will need some bolts for the intake manifold, one will lead from the charcoal canister. Don't be surprised if a lil bit of antifreeze spits out a bit. Just wipe it up as soon as you can.
And here's some before and after pics. I started removing things in November, still not 100% yet. OH and before you think about cutting off the A/C you might run into some problems with belt squeals. Speaking for myself, I am still getting some of those and it gets annoying.

Your emgine bay looks just like mines...im thinking about painting the engine bay soon tho

the only thing is good long slow clean. simple green the hell out of everything at the carwash, blast it clean, and lotsa soapy water and tons of rags. also about 30 bucks of good product. armour all for the hoses and vacum lines.....been using it for 15 years, great product to keep them supple and black looking. also for the hard black plastic like the inner wheel well and rad shroud .....mothers back to black is an EXCELLENT product........brings back the old faded greying plastic back like new. did my engine bay last summer..............looks frakkin awesome.

pics here..................you can see the right inner wheel well is done with back to black, the left is not done what a difference

any ways good luck.............a lot harder with a motor i know, but possible

peace
