Engine Bog

Thanks for the inputs .....No black smoke, idles rough when cold then goes good when warm but still bogs in gear.... The motor ran great........ then the intake gasket needed replacing so we did that and the head gaskets so its not too big....pretty confused haha

So it ran fine and then you changed intake gaskets and head gaskets and it started bogging immediately after that?

Double check your timing if that's the case.

Could be a leaky intake manifold gasket.

Is it idling at the right speed, or did you have to bump up the idle to keep it running smoothly?

It idles at the right speed and throttle response is good when in park and warm... my problem is when its in gear.....

if your rollling at say 30 mph with the trans pulled down in low gear, and you punch it to the floor it bogs then ,is that right,,,?? if so sounds like your secondaries are opening up too soon,, make sure of all the basics first, if still bogs try useing a stiffer spring in the vaccuum pot that controls the opening of the back barrells,,,cheers,,,

I have 2 performer rpm intakes. One is on the boys car. Those edelbrocks aren't Holley friendly without carb spacers. I had to do some tricks with brass fittings, and a 1/2 carb spacer, to make a 650 D.P. set under a stock 87 elco hood- and get all the vac ports done. Might check the rear bowl on that fitting in the intake, if you have one? All that is to say, you might check to see if carb is sitting flat, and tight. 8) Good Luck. Had to use a low profile 14" air cleaner too.
