Engine Cooling, what works?

For a quick fix try this stuff. It worked for me on my 1968 Buick LeSabre.

Buy a stock application V8 radiator for your car, move rubber radiator mounts from the inboard to the outboard positions, reassemble shroud and you should be good to go. If you are super paranoid, swap your clutch fan out for an F-body fan and nothing short of a broken engine is going to produce more heat than that setup can disperse.

Make sure you don't have vacuum leaks or anything else that could cause hotter running lean fuel mixtures. Make sure your ignition timing is correct too, incorrect timing can cause hot running. For the coolant you can use less antifreeze in the mix as water transfers heat better.

That's what I was wondering as well. If it's not overheating now, leave it alone.
But if you are swapping in a V8 later on, now is the time to install a radiator capable of cooling a v8. A standard all aluminum 2 row radiator will be sufficient. You will need either electric fans or a v8 fan and shroud setup because it's shorter than the v6 setup.

I've got a 388 stroker (.060) over and had the same concerns. I ordered a new stock radiator from RockAuto. Ordered a set of dual electric fans for a 1998 chevy malibu. A 180° thermostat and 180° temp switch to run the fans. Off the shelf water wetter from oriellys. Cruise temp hangs out at 165° and if im beating on it it'll climb to 185°.

I am concerned about heat also. I am using a single fan but I can’t find a reliable switch. So many bed reviews on the junk available. Anyone have a recommendation??

Derale fan controller works great for an aftermarket setup.

Try this one, all the other ones I tried were junk. It is digital, adjustable and two 40 amp relays will work with nearly any fan.
