Whats up guys. After getting the lesabre almost all cleaned out I fired her up. After she was sitting for 5yrs she fired right up. Bad thing shes coated in oil so burning oil smoke is wvery where!lol.

Ok the issue is the car will idle fine for 10 minutes and then run rough and finally stall out. I went through and replcaed all the cracked vac lines I could find. Ran a little better but still dies. Any ideas, carb, coil, timing?

thats an intresting problem. i know newer cars if the coil is wore out and the motor gets hot enough itl run rough somtimes die then the motor wont start untill it cools off.
if it was sitting for 5 years did u be sure to check ur fluids to make sure none of them have become sludgy or solid like ur oil and things like that. check all ur hoses like fuel lines to be sure none of them have rotted. u didnt just throw a battery in it and start it did u?

whats the year of the car what motors in it?

and u kindda got me thinkin about vapor lock

Its a 83 buick lesabre limited.
I drainded the tank, drained oil and transmission fluid. Refilled all. I put 91 back in the tank.

I pulled the carb off and some what cleaned it with carb cleaner.

The engine is a olds 307.

so its idleing fine until the motor warms up i got that. i kinda wanna say that its possible its running too rich which is fine for a cold start up cuz thats what a choke does but when the motors warm u dont need the richer fuel so i kinda wanna say thats the problem but i dont know im not exactly there to see the car run. doin this over the web is kinda hard.
jw but u dont happen to have the edelbrock 1405 600 carb do u? cuz if it is then thats exactly the problem.

and ive still got vapor lock on my mind

can someone else join in on this conversation? cuz id like to know the problem myself

Im thinking my carb is trash. I have the stock electric q-jet. Im going to the scrap yard and get another one and see if that solves the issue. Ill let you know what happens.

I just need this motor to runing good till I get my 383 built.

well q jets a good carb but im thinkin the years may have took its toll on it. yea maybe try throwin on a diffrent one to see if that fixes it or helps it either way let me know.

and by the way if u do go to buy a new carb do not get an edelbrock. just some info lol

Ok so after work today I didnt get a chance to go the junkyard so I went to mess with the car. So what I found was the idle speed screw was sadjusted to far in causing it to idle to high. So I backed it out some to bring the idle down. No more stalling, or dieseling after I shut it down. :? \
Even though my check engine light is not lit up , I pulled codes and came up with two. 23 and 34. M.A.T , and M.A.P.\
Now i drove it around the block and when I step on the gas it hesitaes then takes off?

bring ur air fuel mix screws all the way in. then turn them 2 turns out then start the motor and bring them both out a half turn at a time with it running untill the motor starts to hesitate once it starts to hessitate then go back in a half a turn or untill it smooths back out.

if map came up then its possible the mix is not right anyway

hessitation when u take off could be the accelerator pump take a look at that.
is ur fuel filter clean?

ok try that. its a shame u dont have another carb layin around u could try out
