I can't seem to find the correct info about my engine. I know its not the original so I began to search and behind the alternator is V1001DDL and under that is CGS902851 and at the rear on driver side is 14088551 which I did find info on but it wasn't enough. I was getting my A/C working and the new pump didn't fit right but still worked with slight modifications. I don't like it and I want it back to where it was with the correct compressor in place.. I had a Harrison 529 on it.. The DDL part is hard to find..

O and under that is what I assume is what they call partial vin but not sure and couldn't find anything on that either..

Suffix code DDL is a 1986, LG-4,165 hp, 305. This came straight from myMSA-1 suffix code book.

Thank you as well but DDJ DDK DDM are the same as DDL so why have different suffix if they are the same?. I'm sorry if I'm upsetting anyone but the suffix is supposed to tell just about everything you would want to know.. I need to know what car it came in as well but I guess nobody knows the answer.. I did see a book on Google that had the DDL and it was in 5 different cars in 86. Camaro,Impala,Caprice,Malibu,Monte Carlo..(https://books.google.com/books?id=e...AQ#v=onepage&q=engine suffix code DDL&f=false)
Next is from Nastyz28...
The suffix portion tells you the original application, vehicle model, engine RPO/ transmission / horsepower, etc..

So what is it that you want to know? All those codes are basically the same engine that came in different models. You don’t need the engine code to buy the right ac compressor. Get on rock auto and look one up for one of those five cars and I bet you find it. Even if you go to a parts store, tell them the application is for one of those models, take the old one with you and they can help you. They want to sell you a part and will do whatever to make a sale.

That's kind of funny.. I work at Advance Auto Parts.. In commercial delivery.. They are actually not all the same.. That's what I thought too.. There is a slight difference in them. Mine measures 1-1/2" from base to center of the pulley.. The UAC compressor that I bought ( pitstop auto) measures 1-1/8".. Even with my discount it's high dollar.. I'm on disability and work part time so money is a little tight. I have sent the one back and ordered a different one but I don't know if its the correct one.. O yea, my old a/c has a 5.5" pulley and the new one has a 4.9" pulley. Not sure that will make a difference or not.. I just need the belts to be the original size and to line up and that should work.
