im not to sure about v6 engines... so with that said is there and difference between the buick 4.1 and oldsmobile 3.8? are they the same engine? parts interchangable. the reason i ask my regal has a 4.1 i think it needs to be replaced and my cousin has a cutlass with a brand new 3.8 in it zero miles hasnt been started yet im thinking about buying it.

Same engine, so long as the distributor is in the front. Both are unrelentingly vile in a G body, but both will permit forward motion if that is all you need.

The Buick 4.1 was a rebored 3.8. It barely got more horsepower than the 3.8 and sucked more gas.

Tip: the 4.1 came with a Quadrajet, the 3.8 with a Dualjet. If you do get a 3.8 to replace the 4.1, keep the 4.1 intake manifold and carb.
