Hey guys, My 67 GTO may be going into a shop here soon so i wont beable to have my regal painted as soon as i wanted to. I have a gallon of epoxy primer and hardener, My question is: Can I do the body work and have the car shot with the epoxy primer?

The car will be in my garage untill it can be painted but I need to do something with the paint just cant get the 5k paint job yet..

Also, the regal has body fillers by the front and rear bumbers they are like a rubber peice. Will the epoxy adhere to them? what about fiberglass?

sorry for all the questions need to get some answers befor i shoot the car!

The paint should adhere to the bumper fillers. Please note, though, that you should take good care of them. They're goddamn expensive to replace.

My last car was in primer for a year and a half and i drove it everywhere. Just dont use any tire shine or get any silicon base on the primer during that time cause it will effect the outcome of the actual paint such as fish eyes.

from what i have read the expoxy primer is excelent for corrosion prevention. they say that the epoxy primer and a zinc primer will both prevent rust if the body work is done properly.

Don't use zinc primer under paint!!! I did, and the paint peeled with the primer. Epoxy primer works great, but it is not very UV resistant and will chalk after a while. Urethane primer is also good, and it too will prevent rust over the long haul. Just don't use Lacquer primer as it provides no real protection from rust. I have had some sections of cars in urethane or epoxy for up to a year or two with no problems.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Not sure but its starting to look like the regal MAY get painted after all, The guy at the shop is acting like he doesnt want to do the GTO anymore so I dont feel to good about taking it over there and having something happen to it. So I was thinking of just finishing up the regal how I want it then start on the GTO later..
