so has anyone ever heard a loud long squeek comming from under the hood after you turn your car off? i cannot figure out where it is comming from. i think it might be from the carb.

also how come after i smash on the gas and come to a stop light my oil pressure goes down by 20 PSI?

also, i just found out im using a square bore carb on a spread bore manifold. is this ok until i get my quadrajet on there?

The squeek could possibly be your blower fan because it runs consistently while the car is on. Only shuts off once the car is off. Another possibility is the bearings in either the alternator or the AC pump. The sudden jerk when the motor kicks off could cause one of those bearings to emit a squeek.

As far as oil pressure, that's what these cars normally do. My malibu will do 60psi on a cold start up. From there once its warmed up, it'll do 40-45psi driving and 20psi while sitting still at a light. So no worries there.

As far as the carb I wouldn't see a problem using that until your q-jet comes back. People use different carbs on different intakes all the time. It may not be the best as far as performance, but the car should run just fine.

Check the fan clutch. Once the engine is shut off, the fan may keep spinning if the clutch is worn out.

With the engine warm and OFF, try and spin the fan. If it spins freely for more than a half a turn, you probably need to replace the clutch.

i dont have AC in my car and the altenator is new. i thought fan clutches were for an electric fan.

If its a mechanical fan, it should have a clutch. Are you using a stock or aftermarket fan?

im not sure. its a metal flex fan if that helps. heh. sorry guys. im not even sure what a fan clutch is or how it works. im kinda new to anything thats not a classic VW.

Well if it's a flex fan you don't have any fan clutches. Maybe you have a vacume leak somewhere. And when you shut the car down, you are hearing the last bit of air getting sucked through the leak? IDK I'm just taking a guess.

If it is a clutch fan, you should be able to spin it by hand when the engine is off. If it is a direct drive fan, it should not move if the water pump belt is tight.

i do have a small crack on my intake but i dont think it is leaking. wouldnt there be water or oil commin through it? where else should i be looking or a vaccuum leak?

I've seen a car with a small vacum leak (I forget where it was). But what was happening was it squealed all the time while it was running. But it was just hard to hear over the exhaust. And when he shut the car down, there was still enough vacum that you could hear the squeal for a moment. I don't know if this is your problem, just throwing it out there.
