i have always heard headers add more power but no one has ever proven it to me. so my question is, should i spend $200 for a set of headmen headers or just stick with my stock manifolds and run a custom exhaust out of them?

It may be helpfull to actually tell us what you have and what your goals are first.....

what you are asking for is what you are complaining about, you want us to tell you our opinions....there are plenty of articles to read about headers vs stock manifolds.

You will pretty much always gain some power by replacing factory manifolds with a set of headers (they let the engine breathe more) Your engine combination will be the determining factor of your gains

For performance, headers are the way to go. For cost, reliability no fitment issues, go with high performance application factory manifolds. You can buy reproduction Olds manifolds for less than a good set of headers. Here's a link

dual exhaust into a x pipe and 2 small turbo mufflers with chrome 2" tips infront of the back tires. stock ride hight right now and it currently has a 307 but im trying to get ahold of a olds 350.

X2 But with a 307 with stock heads I think headers will not provide much improvement. The improvement from headers will be more pronounced with a 350 and a good set of heads. The best thing for more fun from a 307 is different rear end gears.
