Super 40's, the only flowmasters to go with 8). Mine are offset in, offset out

Thanks alot..
Usually I just got to the cheapest muffler shop
And have tell them to install me a set of duals
I'm kinda wanting to decide on this set
Especially with the rebuilt motor I've installed

I don't know about all the different models Flowmaster has to offer but I've always heard they are some of the poorest flowing mufflers available, overly loud, and some have an annoying drone. That's why I always hear them refered to as 'Blowmasters' or 'Flowcrapsters'. This comes from many who have owned them and tested them vs other mufflers. Their popularity stems from thier cool sound ( for most ),easy availability, and marketing. I never owed any myself mostly due to the numerous poor reviews I have heard.

its all on what type of sound you want cause if you want it loud go with the 40 series if you want the sound really deep not to loud I would get the super 44s. I had 40s on my t-top monte ss which I loved and on my 85 monte ls I had super 44s and I had the same motor in both cars and you could really hear the diffrence in the 2 types but the 44s made it sound more powerful but not as loud. But I love the loudness of the 40s that why I have them on my current 84 cutlass and with that little built 327 it sound almost like a track car. Just remember no 2 engine will sound exactly alike so its you personal preference.

I love my super 44's. I've got 350 w/headers, high flow cats and 2.5 inch piping. I get compliments all the time. Pacman is dead on too. The Super 44's sounds mean, but really aren't too loud. I mean they're loud, but not obnoxious/get pulled over for no reason loud. In fact I had my car dyno'd recently and the guy said my exhaust was quiet. He mean that only compared to some of the ridiculous cars that come in his shop.

I'm assuming you mean on a chassis dyno, if you don't mind me asking what were the numbers you pulled?

180 hp, 301 ft lbs at about 4,000 rpm. I know you're saying to yourself that makes no sense. But the car runs on a modified TBI system. The restrictiveness of the TBI is why the lower hp #'s and low RPM with the high Torque. Its like the 400's from the 70's with the 2bbl carb. All torque, limited hp.

Next year I'm going with either the GMPP Ram Jet EFI setup or the Holley Terminator EFI. Not decided yet but likely the Holley. The linkage for the transmission is the same and that should open this motor up.
