Small town NY
Now that Im getting all the parts to finish up I ordered the line for the AC compressor. Pretty amazing. Ordered it from Autozone yesterday and it was here this afternoon. From TX to NY.
Now the issue. The lines are way too long. So long they both kink when I try to hook them up. What the heck ? Theres no way theyre going to fit unless I have them shortened.
Mayby I got the wrong year. What year Camaro had the right hose ?

Have counterman check the application again to maybe see if its wrong in the system or ordered wrong while you return for either the right replacement of refund.

They all did.

BTW, congratulations on the progress you're making!
The part number on the hose is correct and its the same shape as the one on all the parts websites. It looks like the one in this picture. I did see another part number for a late 80s Camaro but the lines come out of the block a different way and the hoses look even longer.

I'm guessing you put a 3rd gen Camaro condenser in? You should be able to go with 86-89 Camaro hoses (FOUR SEASONS 55451). I have them in my SS, but I got a set from a 3rd gen Camaro, not from the parts store.

I guess I ordered the wrong year. I bought a 56016. They look similar but I guess the 55451 is shorter. Back to the autozone order pages !! Thanks for the part number !
And no, I used a Cutlass condenser but its very similar to the one for a Camaro.

Ordered the 55451 hose and got it yesterday. The one hose was a perfect fit. The second one that goes to the condenser is way too long. Even bending the crap out of it still didnt make it look right. Yesterday I went to the local radiator/AC shop since Ive had the guy do some stuff for me in the past.
Turns out the new AC hoses from Four Seasons use a thin wall hose instead of the type that were used a few years ago. He couldnt shorten that hose.
Today I drove to 6 different places that I know make hydraulic and AC hoses. Five of them couldnt do it. The last one thats almost an hour away said he could do it but had to order the smaller OD fitting. Hopefully the company has them in stock when he calls them Monday AM. If they do I might be able to get the hose done by the end of the week.
I swear, this car has been fighting me every step of the way. Nothing has been simple. I thought the bracket for the throttle/kickdown cable was going to work out and nope. Close but not right. Back to the drawing board on that one too. Time to get some thin tin and make a template of what Im going to need that will pick up the Vortec manifold bolts. Pain in the butt.

Last night Im sitting here looking at threads on different forums about exhaust systems, brackets and AC stuff. While I was rereading my last comment on this one I happened to look down and under "Similar threads" I happened to see AC Hose Assembly so of course I opened it up. Interesting replies. Now I see the same compressor that I have and a similar hose that doesnt fit due to the block that attaches to the compressor being different. Unbelievable !!!!! I just sent the shop thats ordering the special fitting telling the guy not to order it. At this point it looks like it wont fit. This sucks. Im trying to finish this crap and every time I turn around its something else holding things up.
The majority of the wagon is finished. Paint, brakes, suspension, interior, motor, transmission. DONE ! Its this stupid little BS crap thats driving me crazy to the point I wish I never took the car apart.
Tell me you guys have been through this. I cant be the only one this keeps happening to. UGH !!!!!!!!!

oh no you're not alone,I've gone around and around for years with certain thing's on my car to no end.from the ground up it was always something that slowed thing's to a crawl and becomes two sometimes three steps back.it's gotten to the point where i wash out and have to stay away for a while in order to not let it get to me.I've been walking past my car all winter long,it's not easy.all i can say is the finish line is in sight for you.you've checked off all the larger boxes in the scope of it all.if i was any closer to you I'd love nothing more than to put a set of eyes of what you're dealing with.hang in there, persistence usually pays off, regardless how long it takes..

Oh, it gets much worse when you mix and match. More than once I have done things like bend a coat hanger to the best routing for a radiator hose, then persuaded a parts store guy to let me rifle through his hose collection until I found something close that could be cut to fit!

Molded crankcase breather air supply hose from the air cleaner. Discontinued, no amount of Internet scraping finds a new one, and all junkyard ones are worse than mine. Found a Ford one that was close and cut to fit.
