steubenville, oh
so it turns out my 2.28-geared posi rear is toast. half of a tooth from the ring gear broke off some time ago and has, over time, ruined the diff.

so, i'm thinking of switching to an f body rear for an easy rear disc conversion.

so my questions are:

do all years 82-02 use the 7.5" rear?

when did they start to come with disc brakes?

do any of the disc brake rear ends have posi differentials?

least important, do any of those combinations have 2.28 gear ratios?

i think that''s it for now

any info is appreciated, as always

Do you mean you plan on using the entire rear axle assembly? That wouldn't be very easy to do with the torque arm suspension.

Yes, but the third gens also came with borg-warner 9 bolts.

when did they start to come with disc brakes?

It was an option for all years.

do any of the disc brake rear ends have posi differentials?

Some did, again it was an option.

Not sure what all was available. The highest i can recall seeing was a 2.73.

i think that''s it for now

In no way will the housing fit a G body. The guts may, but the assembly is MUCH wider than a G body, and the suspension is much different too. Plus, the axle housing ends have a different flange than a G body drum brake rear.
