Does anyone have a picture of their factory shifter, without the console on, showing where the hole was drilled for the shifter cable? Also, can anyone find or give me a picture of the cable attached to the trans selector lever? I have already drilled the hole through the body for the cable and all, but when I hook it up to the selector bracket, it doesn't even come close for where it would need to be in order to slide into the trans pan bracket. Do I even need the pan bracket? I took the cable out all the way, stretched it towards the back underneath the car, and slid it onto the selector lever. Even then, holding it up, it would not line up with anything. Either I have a wrong cable, or the wrong trans pan bracket :wtf: . So any information would be super excellent.

Thanks everyone

Do you know if it is an overdrive or non-overdrive cable? I had similar problems installing my 700r-4 with my stock floor shift. I ended up using a camaro cable & cable bracket for a 700r-4. I know that the hole for mine was at the front end of console off to the driver side.

Honestly I have no idea. I bought the car from someone who parts out G-body's pretty frequently. When I got there, he had the cable out of one of the cars already.

Can you send a pic of the cable end? Either post it or email me at [email protected]. I have both cables so I could tell you what you have, and if you want the other cable to try let me know.

I just ran out and took some pics of both the 200C (non-overdrive) cable & bracket and the 200-4R cable & bracket. I don't know if the 350 cable would be different though, no experience with them.

Both cables are extended to trans side. Let me know if this helps at all.

I appreciate the help! I put a post on www.montecarloss.com about shifter cables, and apparently the TH350 cable and bracket is different from a 2004r. And looking at your pictures, I unfortunately have both the wrong bracket and cable :x Just another setback from making progress.

Thanks again for your quick replies 84cutspreme

No problem, good luck

Hello, I just found your post in a search. I got an 87 Regal that was converted to a floor shifter. The problem is that I can't shift down to first gear. Either I have the wrong bracket or its installed incorrectly. it looks like the bracket on the first pic you have here. I will send some pix.

Can't send pix file is to big. When I get my car back from the shop I'll take some new pix. In verbal description. the support is facing the front of the car. I've seen pix where a shifter bracket is facing the rear. Also a tech from DRW transmission told me he believes its suppose to face the rear. Thank You

Here are some pix of the shifter cable install. Obviously not properly done. Otherwise it would not look like this and I'd be able to shift down to 1st gear. But everything else as far as the shifter and trim seem to be in well order.
