hey guys, I have an 86 Elco that's all stock. I've been looking at fiberglass parts like hoods and tailgates and stuff, but I've decided to save most of my money for when I go to college next fall. Just wondering for when the time comes, are there any assemblies that can attach a fiberglass hood to the front of the car, or is it safe to use the stock one? Not sure if stock assemblies were standard with all g bodies, but mine has circle coil ring hinges that hold it up after it's been opened, and it also has the latch and spring thing in the front. Are the hinges or the spring too powerful for a fiberglass hood?

The hood hinges will break the hood if it is not a bolt on one. There is bolt on hoods and lift off hoods. Me personally like lift off hoods I just don't like having the fear of the hood falling on me because of the hinge failing or the stick falling. One thing you could do is find a whole fiberglass front clip and hood which is shave a lot of weight off.
