Re: FINALLY A VFN W-30 Ram Air Hood for the 78-80 Cutlass !!

There is a slight ridge but the molding covers it up good and is deceiving so it's hard to tell in the photos, I've never owned one so I'm not 100% on it. Looks like the black hood pictured above may have had finishing done to it since I believe there is a channel to accept the molding, I don't like it.
Looks even worse on the 81-88's, looks like someone slapped a Monte hood on an Olds.

I think the angle of the scoops look great on the 78-80 hood, fits the square nose on these cars.

81-88 Noses are angled so the angle looks ok, the one on my hood is a little exaggerated, it works for me but I'd like to tone it back a little...
I think the ralley stripes help it out, I've seen some solid color hoods where it's more evident and looks a bit off.
When I have the Aluminum frame put in mine I am going to reshape them a bit so they're not as exaggerated and install a screen underneath.
I'm also going to leave the pins off the hood, after much thought I don't think they would look good.

Here is the final product, This is the black gelcoat that they come in

notice the scoops are open at the front and have return lips all around making it stronger and cleaner in appearance, than just having a sharp jagged edge that can distort or be wavy

This is the underside which has the functional airbox which feeds the airflow from the ram air scoop openings directly into your carb just like the 69-72's

We are hoping to have installed photos coming pretty soon

My hood has a chrome piece that runs from front to back. Will I be able to mount that piece to this hood? My hood emblem on my header panel would look wierd without it.

It's got the ridge down the middle you would have to drill the mount holes, and the airbox may be in the way of the front stud which may not really allow you to bolt it in that area , however it may not be a bad idea to lose the emblem and smooth it, just for a more clean and aggressive appearance, just like the classic Olds

of course to each their own, either way this will definitely add some attitude!
