Well back in 08 I was a member of this great forum. Sadly after I enlisted in the Marine Corps I had to sell my 1982 cutlass that I had swapped a 455 Olds in to. Well the stars and the planets aligned and I was able to buy back the cutlass. Sadly the guy I sold it to starved the motor of oil and the motor locked up a mere two weeks after I sold her. Well he parked the car. I heard that it had been siting a few months back so I bought the car back. And one we are reunited I will have to apologize and reassure the car that I will not abandon it again. Well my plan is to make up for my transgressions against the cutlass. A old friend and I will thrash for two weeks to bring her back to life and better than before. I am in the planning stages now and will have plenty of questions.

Semper Fi and welcome back. Believe it or not, you'll actually miss the Corps once you've been out for awhile

So what's the plan for the Cutlass this time around? Got any pics?

Well I just reenlisted and lat moved.
My plan is as fallows
Have the motor rebuilt if it’s salvable if not get a short block and reuse the top end and freshen it up with a new cam and springs and valves.
Rebuild the th400 and the rear end.
New torque converter
Looking to add an umi stage one kit for now and add the rest later
I want to update the brakes but I will not give up my 15in wheels. Any ideas here would be great. I am looking at the ssbc quick change twin sport 2 piston front calipers and new rotors. No idea on the rear.

Also the car needs to be rewired. Any ideas where I can get a wiring harness would be great.

That is what I have planned for this trip and hopefully I will be able to drive it back from Texas to California. Any help with this project would be great and much appreciated.

I almost re-upped back in '99 but I found another job. I was married then too and didn't want to be another guy with a West-Pac widow if you know what I mean.

But anyway....I'm sure you could use a harness from another Cutlass that had a 307 or even a 260 if you don't want to do the wiring. I'm sure one of the Olds guys on here has one.

of my knowledge there is no wiring harness out there we can purchase. I've just been tackling issues as they come up on my car...Any pictures of your olds?

Yea I know what you mean. Well I am getting married on the tenth. She has stayed with me for through a cruise and a pump to afghan. You may find this funny but you should check out terminallance.com. It’s written by a guy that got out about a year ago but a good comic kinda crude.

Yes I may just have to take care of it as it comes up. I was hoping that painless had something that would work.

Hey Atlas, welcome back and thank you for your service! I'm new here, but I hang out at a couple other forums too.

You say the car needs to be rewired, any specific problems? Seems strange that it would need to be rewired unless there was a fire or something? Anyway, your best bet may then be to pick up a used harness, at a junkyard or someone might have one.

Good luck with the rebuild, should be rebuildable unless the guy really did a number in it. Got pics?

It has been hacked up all over. When I first bought it I even found the gold lamp coard spliced in going to the tail lights. Things splice in all over the place.
