After getting screwed around for 3 years, on my motor, and everything with it and the transmission, I finally have it back home.
Originally 3 years ago, a couple buddies of mine offered to build the motor, swap motors and trannies in my car (they have a lift) for $800 and in about 3 months time. As I said, tha twas 3 years ago. I went and got it as soon as the long block got assembled. It ended up costing me more than originally planeed, and with about only half the work completed, but it is home now, and since I have garage space in our new house, I can finish it.
So I put the carb, fuel pump on it yesterday. Gonna have to tape it up and respray it as well, since they didn't spray the heads or waterpump, like they were going to as well.
Heads were decked, 3 angle valve job, screw-in studs installed. Block was cleaned, bored .020", align-honed,rotating assembly balanced, factory forged crank micropolished, factory forged rods resized and ARP bolts. Everything is new in this motor except crank and connecting rods. It isnt ready to go in yet, but after 3 years of being led around in circles, it is home, and I can finish it, soon.

The black 87 Salon (in the background).......get it finished built, in and then I'll have room to put the 71 455 on the engine stand...... 8)
And maybe the 455 will go in the white 85 Salon....

...and thank you! It felt so good to have it home, and even though I had the runaround with my "buddies", I have the space to finish it.......Originally, when I started this motor build, I didn't have the space to store it and work on it. That's the reason it went to their house.

The white salon would be sick with the 455 in it. Does that car have dealer installed options? That paint setup does not look factory.

I don't know if they were dealer installed, but you are right, definitely not factory. The thread when I bought it is here http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=33093

I would love to know where the wing came from, as if you look at the pics of the mount, it fits perfectly on the trunk line.

The wing probably came from an early 90s firebird and the guy made custom mounts. I like the GTA wheels on the white car. Its very Buzy with the extra grey on top of the white, stainless sheet trim tacked on, the door ding strips, and the pinstripe. I bet if you took off the metal sheet trim & the door ding strips it would look lot cleaner and get more compliments. Just an idea. A 455 an a built 200-4r is a fantastic combo for this car. It even has the buckets console & ralley guages.

Check out Bob's car for some ideas & inspiration. http://WWW.robertpowersmotorsports.com.
Bob ran 12.3s at 110 on pump gas through full exhaust on drag radials same trim he drove it in & got 15 hwy with the 200-4R, working lock up converter & q-jet still tuneing when it was stolen. Or Dwight's on Cardomain with 455 overdrive lock up coverter & q-jet. He's run 12.3 @ 110 full exhaust drag radials & gotten 20 hwy. Mine ran a 12.5 @ 110 & got 17.0 hwy same built 200-4R, lock up converter & q-jet only useing a Caddy 500. See signature & photos. Spreadbores work fine to just not quite as part throttle efficient & smooth or crisp.

Back to the wheels my buddy has a GNX with 255/50/16s on the rear & 245/50/16s up front. I always thought it looked great & was about the perfect balance between handling and straight line traction. Rubber band tires spin so bad behind serious torque.

BTW the 333 is going to look good and is cool & unique. At the car shows & cruise ins you will get lots of props sitting amid a sea of belly button SBCs. I have painted my heads cast gray before and gotten unsolicited compliments on them. It gives it good contrast & would work well with the Olds gold block & valve covers. And match your cast gray water pump. Then maybe a red cap n wires that match with black headers. Or matching blue cap n wires with blue headers. Just some thoughts. It would still look Olds just not as plain.

The guys building this thing were supposed to paint the water pump and heads (I supplied the paint), but didn't. And the paint that I did was messed up so it has to be totally redone. I have Taylor blue wires, and the Accel billet distributor has a tan cap. I plan on painting the heads the same gold, but hadn't decided on the water pump....gray or black. The PermaCool electric fan I have to go on it is blue, as well.

The 333 is something you don't see everyday, and is why I did it...many have told me I should have went 350, 403, or 455, and those are all well and good, and provide much more I guess, but at the time I started this, I hadn't seen ANYONE with a 66 330 in their GBody Cutlass....so that's why I did it, and stay Olds -powered as well.

Can you scuff & paint the cap to match the wires? I would paint the water pump cast gray and the alternator black.
