I found out why the fishing sucks. Besides the hurricane that spun offshore for a week, they are dredging the inlet near me. Every time the tide comes in the water is loaded with silt and debris. I found some clear water far back in the bay and I managed to squeak out these two guys. No birds, no splashes, just blind casting to a likely spot. Two others got off.
Remember this guy? He leaped out of the cooler to chomp down on my thumb. I wanted to have it on my grandson's birthday but he was up to his ears in final exams. He said save it for Christmas. So I did. I invited this Fluke to be the guest of honor at Christmas dinner. I had the last laugh. He was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are probably my biggest two of last summer. Caught a decent number but not a lot of size to them. Warmer months I fish for flatheads. This time of the year I stick to smallmouth bass. Didn’t make it out this weekend like I usually do because all the creeks I fish in central Ohio were locked up. Hopefully his warm weather and rain thaws them back out for next weekend.
