Fishing 2023

Last few trips. The monster Channel Catfish is a guy I work with.IMG_20230709_220634.jpgIMG_20230707_221125.jpg20230707_201939.jpgIMG_20230621_122544.jpg

Nice Walleye. I wish I got my coworker to send the pic of his 31.5", 10.5 pound Walleye he caught on Last Mountain Lake. The smallest they caught was 23", the rest were 28" and up. Probably it and Tobin both have chances of a World record Walleye.

My personal best is this 30" 10 pound 15 ounce caught a couple of miles from my house at our Melville Reservoir. My Wife caught a 32" 10 and half pounder and our friend Wayne a 34" 11 pound 12 ounce monster, all the same place and year 2016. The best this year is maybe 6 pounds from our local reservoir. Impressive for a couple mile long by maybe 3/4 mile wide and 30 to 40 feet deep, depending on the year.

Our last couple of trips to the Qu'appelle River just before the Round Lake inlet. It has been awhile since I have seen a Sauger, the fat one FYI.

We had another 40+ fish day at Fishing Lake. A couple of the best Walleye were camera shy, along with a few little ones and 6 Pike, best was maybe 5 pounds for the good old Jack fish.

I use those same type plastic grubs on Summer Flounder. Unfortunately the wind has been from the South, stirred up everything, and the water resembles a backed up toilet until the tide comes in. I only got four throwbacks all day. You guys are killing it!!!

Yeah, the aptly named Fishing Lake is loaded with aggressive Walleye and Pike. It is all sand and gravel bottom, very clear in the Spring and we fish in 6 to 11 ft, usually around 9 ft. It is 40 ft through the middle and 75 ft in the one bay. But it is very open over 15 km/hr is uncomfortable and over 20 km/hr impossible. It was 14 km/hr with gusts up to 21 km/hr that day.
