I have the correct adapter now and i am just wondering what brackets everyone has tried or installed on their engines for the throttle and trans t.v. cable. any help would be appreciated. i know 30 bucks for a bracket isnt extremely spendy, but i can fab so i am also wondering if anyone has fabbed the stock bracket to work. i have the stock cable bracket fabbed up on the holley spreadbore now and it works alright, but i believe the square bore carbs pull the trans cables differently. thanks for all the advice.

Throw that adapter away. I lost a motor once because the "adapters" mounting nut got sucked down the intake. 73 Cutlass with a 454..just cruising down the road and "boom". Save your money and get the correct intake.

I would also suggest to get yourself an intake

Just curious, how does one of the mounting bolts get to the intake opening?

X2 (or is it X3?). Why upgrade your carb then add a restrictive adapter that hurts flow? Either get a Qjet or get an aftermarket intake. These adapters are trash.

well nevermind then. obviously getting a 7111 would be ideal. im just trying to daily driver this thing. thanks again.

If you really don't want to swap your intake out, you will need to get a nice adapter like a Hamburger one or something. They are like $100 but they are nice.

$100. carb spacer? :wtf: a used intake is really starting to sound pretty good.

haha, kind of my point. You can get a very nice used intake for $100 or less. You'll just have to swap it out, so it'll be like another $20 for an intake gasket set and an hour or two of your time.

Thats what I was wondering, it was probably one of the first adapters around and they changed designs. Talk about being pissed. The car was cherry but had no motor, I found a wagon some old lady was selling and swapped the 454 in there. It was a real sleeper and I was going to flip it for a buck then boom...I wish I came across deals like I did back in the 80's.

Installed carb with 25 dollar adapter, the one like edelbrock sells, solid not open, with q-jet holes on one side and square bore holes on the other side. runs like a dream. stock throttle and trans bracket works fine. thanks for the help.
