Ok guys, I'm new to the forum and relatively new to car building. I have a 1985 Monte Carlo SS that I want to do a resto-mod on. It needs some work though, so this is probably the first of many questions lol. The biggest problem I've found so far is the floor pan. The driver side seems to be ok but the passenger side is shot thanks to a leak in the heater core. I'm just wondering do I need to replace the whole passenger side floor? How do the seat mounts work? They're pretty rusted themselves, I'm planning on putting aftermarket seats in it so do I still need the factory seat mounts? And how do I replace the floor brace if the driver side is fine? Do I cut it in half or just replace the whole brace? It will more than likely go to a body shop since I'm no good with a welder. But I want to make sure I have all the replacement parts I need before it goes. Thanks for your time.

I would cut away as much of the rusty metal as possible. The inner seat bracket is an easily replaced part. The outer looks like it can be blasted clean and retained. It looks as though you might as well cut the passenger floor out, or a good portion of it and trim the new piece to fit.
You can purchase complete floors or floor sections from RockAuto, G-Body Parts, Sherman Restoration Parts, Dixie Restoration Depot, etc.

I think you can purchase quarter floor sections instead of the complete right side floor.

You can replace just the part that is rusted out. The floor brace looks good and shouldn't need removed at all. that front inboard seat mount needs replaced and they can be bought new or used, the front outboard mount looks savable.
