Akron, Oh.
Hi there. I got an 86 cutlass thats needs floor pan work. it has holes in the corners of the floor pan about 2 or three inches round. could i get away with just a patch and paint or is it better to replace the pans all together?
And does anyone know where to get floor pans for less than 300 a side?

What I've found works for me...take a hammer and a little harder than tapping hit the pans all over and see what happens. If there are any holes coming it will usually show up. Works for me anyway.

I've been able to find donor cars for my floor pan jobs but I check them over very carefully first. The last one I got I took the whole pan from just above the front seam to just under the rear seat and side to side. Got it with bucket seat and console mounts for $15.

gbodyparts.com are $235 a side.....

Pinholes are OK to weld up but I wouldnt patch in any sheetmetal on somthing I planned on keeping.

the picture of the floor pan looks strange...the sides of the floor pans I have seen fold up along the outside edges to match the rockers

yeah thats what i thought too. in theory you'd think it would fit right up.

personally I wouldn't take the chance....and I just thought of something, they say the full floor pan is for the El Camino too?.....since when did the El Camino have a back seat floor pan?

I'd be asking them a bunch of questions and get some detailed pictures along with some measurements......you might want to aske them about the seat anchor bolt platforms as well...
