Not sure if my linkage is bent or I have the incorrect shift lever on the end of my transmission. Pic 1

When I install the short end into the shift lever. I'm expecting the other end to swivel where the plastic ball is. Problem is my swivel end is swinging in a giant arc.
In pic 3. If blue dot is the shaft sticking out of transmission, the pivot point will be the blue line. Maybe I have it installed upside down.

The more I look into shifter linkages, the more styles, shapes and angles I'm finding. Like .......pic 4 and 5

This is for a Grand National with a floor shifter. This linkage runs to the column to operate the starter safety neutral, reverse lights and key out.

Found this pic of a Grand National. Pretty sure, this is what I need.

The swivel linkage is alot straighter and it seems like the transmission shifter shaft is inline with the end where the plastic ball would be.

Hhmm.... Watching this. Curious is there's a source for these as I'll need one for the future planned 200-4R or 4l80e.

Hmm interesting.. is your lever from a 200r4 equipped car? I know the 350 linkages are slighty different but heard they can be bent to make work. I'm in the same boat but havnt tried making my 350 linkages work with the 200r4.. been looking on ebay for the correct setup but afraid to pull the trigger as im sure most sellers don't know there is a diffrence.

Cross shaft for MW9 should be GM p/n 10024720. The extension shaft (part #5) is different on Olds, but pretty much the same across the rest of the 200-4R lineup as well. Same for the end bracket I don't think being a GN or Turbo makes any difference on that cross shaft that I can find, unless you got something from a different transmission. Of course, information can always be incorrect. Those other transmissions have different cross shaft part numbers. Very interesting.

Here's a pic of an 84 H/O underside.
