so cal
out of all the flowmaster series which would be better for my stock v8 307 ..... am leaning towards the 40 series or the super 44 which sound deeper and meaner

if money is not an deciding factor here i would go get a super 44 and hollow out your cat if your in an emmisons free state

I've got 40s on mine, true dual exhaust (not sure if all cutlass' are made that way or the previous owner did that) and no cat flowing exhaust from my stock 307. Sounds great, I get compliments all the time. I could upload a video for you but it really doesn't give you a very good taste. It was just a video I took testing my new phone while my brother was parking my car.

No G-body came with true duals. Base models had single exhaust and the 442's and H/O's had a cat-back dual exhaust consisting of a Y-pipe, two mufflers and two tailpipes.

my 87 I ran totally stock cat forward. Had a custom head pipe mandrel bent into a "Camaro" 40 series with 2 tailpipes leaving out the "stock" locations just after the rear wheels and slight turned down. Most people who'd ask would not believe the car was a totally stock 307. Had a simular set-up for the 81 made, to which I have since deleted the cat and had a Y-pipe made running up to full length Hedmann's.

If all you want is noise, save you money and use a nail to punch holes in your stock muffler. If you want reduced backpressure, the (no)Flowmaster is not the way to go. These mufflers consistently are among the most restrictive in published tests. As for the cat, any modern monolithic cat is no more restrictive than a section of straight pipe. So long as the matrix has not melted down, don't waste your time.
