I plan I switching to the Afterburners after I get about 500+ miles on my new engine. I am running the base line Flowtech long tubes right now and I have been very satisfied with them

I have the flowtech afterburners and I love them!!! Next year I will be getting the ceramic coated ones...I'm a fan of them and the price is right!!! 8)

I'm looking at putting heads on my '85 GP with the 305. How are the painted ones? Do I need the ceramic ones?

Is there anything that I could get for cheaper that is good quality?

I had the Thrush welded mufflers on my '78 Lemans with a 2bbl 305. They made the car sound like a hell of a lot more than a 305. No problems with them but the finish was on the $hitty side. They run about $33 a piece.

How do the Dynomax Thrust Mufflers sound with just single exhaust in/single exhaust out with the cat. converter? I still have the stock cat. converter on her. Not sure if it's still against the law in KY to ride without the cat. converter. I know it used to be.

I imagine half as loud

It might be worth researching you emissions laws or checking with a reputable muffler shop to see what's legal if it's an issue. It's supposed to be illegal to remove catalytic converters period. It boils down to emissions testings, vehicle inspections and whether it's enforced. I'm not suggesting that you break the law or offend the EPA, but you get the idea.

I have the Thrush welded on my 305 Grand Prix and it sounds awesome. Sounds more like a 350 imo. I just have a single in single out and the pipe goes out by the back passenger wheel. I went to Pep Boys and got mine for $20 + tax.

As far as the cat. I cut mine off before taking it to the shop to get the Thrush on. Here in Texas as long as your vehicle is 25 years or older there are no emissions tests so I do not need a cat.
