Im running Flowtechs on my 400 chevy with no problems. You can always bend the dipstick tube if you need toBlake B said:Is there any issue with fitment on 400 blocks? doesnt sound like that was the headers fault, you put the wrong thread in and it blew out. user error.joeshack said:When I was in high school, ~1998 or so I ordered some flowtech headers and put them on. I had to remove the oil pressure sender to make them fit (who needs one, right?). I stuck a bolt in the sender's hole that was the wrong thread type thinking it was just for a jolly test ride with open headers. When i started my car I blew 5 quarts of oil all over my driveway. Since I was in reverse I never looked back to see the long black puddle, my engine seized a miles down the road, I had to walk all the way home, my mom was f'in pissed at the mess and I had to take the bus to school... I'm 33 now and still have the car and I'm shopping for headers again, wont even consider flowtech for my Monte even though i still have the sticker under my hood.
the more you know.
When I did mine I simply set them in with the engine hanging a few inches above of the frame since the engine was going in for the first time. Wasnt hard at all and if I had to do it with the engine already in there I would probably just unbolt the mounts and lift the engine alittle bit. I have a full size starter and I use a regular size oil filter and I have never had issues replacing either one with the Flowtechs in.bill said:Somebody should make a youtube video of the installation of the flowtech headers in a gbody with an sb old/chevy engine.
Id love to see it done correctly and/or without anybody throwing a temper tantrum....lol
