The complete AC is out of the car , was that way as i bought it. The heater is directly connectet to the waterpump and the intake manifold (chevy 350 in it )
. So you have heater full open all the time and you can not decide if you want windshield defrost or warm feet :-(
I do not know how that normaly works on that car and there are so many unknown part under the dash in in the engine bay !?!? I think they are related to the whole heater AC things.. But i do not know....
My plan is to throw all that stuff including the blower AC box in the engine room out and put a heater/blower assembly out of a MINI COOPER under the dash ! It is as small as a shoe box and has all i need , blower on off and heater from cold to warm , windshield defrost and / or warm feet...
So i can pull all of that original stuff out !

I'd love to have what's left of the Mini! Better yet, I'd absolutely LOVE a Trabant! A car so awful that it's good.

Re: That is my problem...

The one in my 1979 RHD mini will stay there 🙂
I try to find one now on ebay or so... I think it is the perfect small one to deal with and be able to put it under the dash and not get cold feet...
So all the heavy blower and box and AC stuff can leave the car..

trying to eleminate my big one but still tryn to figure heat and defrost cause Im bagging the car tucking 20's up front and it hits the box

So why would you remove the AC/Heater? I remember buying my Cutty a month back and the previous owner saying there was no heater. Obviously he was going for a performance-based ride, 307 V8, flowmaster 40s, 4-speed on the floor, removed cat, and I'm not tripping too much because I live in San Francisco and the coldest it gets during the winter is like 40ºF so I might be ok. But the thing is why would you remove it in the first place? My knowledge is fairly basic, the intricate mechanical stuff i get lost. Can you dumb it down for me?

It's mostly for weight savings, but some people do it to clean up the look of the car under the hood. To me, it doesn't make sense unless you are building an all out drag car, or live in Alaska. Also, how do you get through Cali emissions with the Cat removed? I would think that the Governator himself would come and arrest you for even thinking of such a thing in that state! I also don't really see the point of removing the HVAC system in a car that is still running an Olds 307. I know you didn't do it, but I doubt the sanity of the person who did.
