Frame Notch Alternative?

I eventually want to do a frame notch on my Regal project but maybe I can go this route and avoid doing all of that cutting and welding.

On the Regal you can add the GNX flares and then you gain room to put bigger tires on it.

Right now I have new 275/60r15 on some used ARE 15" x 8" rims, a frame notch just opens up more options on backspace if I decide to go with different rims later and I consider it a relatively easy modification to do.
