Is it possible to do a frame notch without having a cage in the car? I talked to a hotrod shop today and they said its almost impossible to do it without a cage cause it wont have enough bracing and support without the cage. Just wondering if anybody has done it without one and not had any problems.

Pretty sure it's been done. Just run a bar from side to side to help stiffen it up.

Its been done and i have plenty of buddies who currently drive and race on a daily bases without issues. You just need to add thicker metal back in to strengthen it back up.
