Hey y'all, I have a 1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham that I am working on for a street car set-up. A few months ago I found that my frame has rot on the rear drivers side. I am upset at this as I do not know frames like I know engines. The rot has made the area of the frame almost paper thin. The only thing keeping the frame from completely destroying itself is that the previous owner (dumb enough to do this) welded a boat/trailer hitch on the back to haul stuff with. The people I have talked to have said that this is most likely the reason it started to rot. Anyways, I was wondering it this could be fixed and what route I should go. I know I could find a donor frame and redo just that section but I am no good welding and getting measurements just right. The other would be to get a whole different frame from a donor car. And Recently I have been looking at getting the rear end "tubbed out". Tubbing it out would require lots of money though and it's a tough decision. Anyways I would rather have a stock frame under there because I have a Buck Grand National rear-end to use for it anyways. Please help me out 🙁

Here are some photos of the rot. They are not the best but they were all i could get as of right now.

Hey there. I suggest you to check out my thread and see how I fixed this. Do you have any welding experience?

Can you link your thread to me please? And Very little. My father knows more than I.

The link is in my signature. One thing, its most likely that you will have to pull the frame to do this right. I used 3millimeter sheet metal. Or you could order aftermarket frame rails from here http://www3.sympatico.ca/conradlozier/
After welding's done, get someone to sandblast everything, or wirebrush it at least. Then give it a rustpreventing coat, and finaly some heavy duty paint.
Then order some new body-bushings while you''re at it. The list will go on and on, even if I didn't plan to do a full frame of resto I just couldn't resist 😀
