I thought it was made up in the bummper mounts . But someone will chime in

I think you'll be fine. The part that makes my front end extend further outward is just made up of brackets that bolt to the header panel & core support. I can't say 100% sure on the '81 & up models, but I have two big plastic covers that take up the room above the headlights. IIRC, I think the metal piece that the hood latch bolts to is longer as well. If you're just using the frame and your existing parts you should be good to go. I don't think my bumper shocks look any different from any other g-body I've owned but I could be wrong.

i thought all the frames are the same except the elkys and the wagons have a longer wheelbase.

Elcamino's have longer wheelbase. The rest have the same wheelbase. The wagons rear rails are different than the 2/4 doors though. Then on some makes the front frame horns are longer, not sure which ones though. I believe some people have used the frames with longer front horns in apps where they needed the shorter ones by compressing the bumber mounts. Or you can cut out a section of the frame to shorten it.

thanks so much for the info i also have a 79 gp i am gonna measure and see if they are the same size frame or the 2 inch deal if i have to fabricate mounts for bumper stil be worth it as my malibu frame is real bad was gonna tub it but would be cheaper to get a frame and i like it the way it is now for looks thanks again
