So I just figured out I have a mice problem. I'd like to hope it's from the previous owner I just bought the car from that lived on a farm. But I'm sure I'd never be that lucky. Long story short, I was running power wire and rca's and when I dropped the lower cover on the pass side of the dash I had a dead mouse wrapped around my harness. A couple nibble marks in the heater vacuum lines but no holes and no other noticeable damage there. After that I figured out I had a driver side rear speaker that didn't work. Tore in to find chewed up wire to the speaker and the wire going into the cone of the speaker itself. Still I was hoping this was from before I bought the car. So I put in a bunch of bounce sheets. Just today I noticed mouse turds on my driver seat, I clean my car (real good, I use to be a detailer) about twice a week so I couldn't have missed this. Anyone ever had to deal with this problem??? What can I do? I can't do anything with a cat, I'm very allergic to um. Thanks for any advice you can give me. Just tonight I set like 6 traps throughout my car with peanut butter. Well see what happens.

You wouldn't want a cat in the car anyway, they'll do just as much damage.

You didn't specify if the car was parked inside or outside, but at the hardware store I found packets of rodent repellant in the pest control section. I've got them in the trunk, back seat, front seat, and on the dash. I also have an electronic sonic repeller in each garage stall. My Regal had some mouse damage done when I got her home, but so far I haven't seen any new evidence.

Makes me think of watching "Pimp My Ride" when the rat was found up in the dash of a Pacer-alive. As disgusting as the cars they made were, I think the rat was almost worse. However, the worst rat car I ever saw was at the junkyard the other day. The whole floor was probably 6 inches deep in rat turds. It was an old Mercedes Benz from the 70's, and the turds were falling out of every crevice!

I just recommend NOT using rat poison. The last thing you want is for the mouse to be up in the dash or HVAC system when it dies. You'll smell it for years even after you clean it.

mice

I think the bounce sheets are the best

Defiantly gonna try the rodent repelant. Does it stink at all? Even so I guess this is something I wanna get resolved right away. My car sits outside btw, I was parking it in front of the garage but someone told me sometimes it helps to park it away from buildings, like on a street because they don't like being in the open. Still nothing in any of the 10 traps I put in it last night 😢

Put one of these next to it in your garage! 😀

LOL nice, I use to have a 69 Wildcat 2 door hardtop. The only cat in my life I wasn't allergic too   Wish I still had it. Anyhow, I picked up some 'fresh cab' botanical rodent repellent today and put them all thru my car hopefully I get results. I HATE THESE THINGS
