I normally don't do this, but I need to vent a bit lol!

I've been prepping and waiting for a couple of years now to get my LeMans in for body and paint. I had things all set up for this week with the shop that's going to do the work to have the car brought in. Went in on Monday and they had been swamped with insurance jobs and the shop was packed with work, no room at the inn. Went back in today and they figure it will be another week or two before they're caught up and have room. I thought about calling around other shops but this place does really good work and are very reputable in my town, I guess I'll just have to be patient. Another reason this sucks is that I took this week off work hoping to have the garage space free so I could start painting my interior panels. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed 🙁 .

Anyway, rant over lol!

I can understand your frustration but if they weren't busy there is probably a reason for that. If you went to find another place and they didn't do the job you wanted then you'd be kicking yourself. I'd wait for the shop and they may repay you for making you wait with a bit extra on the job. And if you ever get really impatient you could always buy me a coffee and I'll pretend I'm listening..

The long, detailed jobs take more time, and often this is on cars that arent daily drivers, so they put the priority on quick fix jobs, which they actually make more profit from. Be patient, as GP says... it will be worth it in the end. Good shops take a long time to do the job correctly and I have seen a shop take 6-8 months to strip, smooth, sand, paint, and polish a TR3, which is a small car. But it looked fantastic and like new when they were done......

You're right Bill, right now they're working on daily driver insurance type stuff. Mine is going in with the understanding that it won't be out until at least spring, work on it when they're a bit slow. The only thing stopping it from going in now is lack of space, they are wall to wall in there. Plus they already have a '70 Nova, an early '60's Mercury Comet, and a mid '80's Regal in there. They told me they usually slow down a bit this time of year but they had a backlog due to late acting insurance appraisers.
