Just wondering if any one knows an easy way to install the bushings on the upper and lower control arms. If their is a home made tool I can make, that would be the best.

Thanks,
Dan

When I did mine I used sockets for spacers and pushed them out with a hydrolic press, made it a breeze(other than taking the control arms off 😉 )

For the uppers I pushed them out with a air chissel.

Be sure to use the good Moog Problem Solver bushings when you do this, there is no point in doing it over again in a few years because of cheap bushings wearing out fast.

I already got them out. I am having trouble getting the new ones in.

try throwing the bushings in the freezer first. ijust did my second set of polys and i must say that bushings are the biggest pain in the rear! i can not imagine doing them without a press, its a must. i bought a press for 100 bucks at harbor freight, only used it twice in 5 years both doing bushings but it was worth every penny!

A table vice will work nicely for bushings, just put some lubricant before you press them in. Protect the arm with plastic/wood between the vice, and done. Or has this been tried already?

I have tried a vice. The problem is that towards the last part of the bushing that slides in has a little larger diameter and it wont go in all of the way. I am not sure if its supposed to stop their or not.

The bushings might only fit one way, you're sure they're in the right way? If so, then make double sure (even though this is silly) that it's the right part.

Then press the hell out of it with a vice. It helps to say some angry words

Can you post a picture of it?

I got one side done. I think the problem is that the two sides of the part the bushing slides into are squeezing together. I just put a piece of pipe in their and it seemed to solve that. Also using a long a$$ pipe on the vise handle made it alot easier. Im not sure how much longer the vise will last by using it that way, but oh well.

The next question is how do you put the upper arms together, the ones with the piece that is seperate from the a-arm?
