So last night I was rippin around, it was a nice night out. All of a sudden my carb starts to go pig rich. So I park and pop the hood. Fuel is boiling out of the the carb! It was steaming out the bowl vent, and bubbling out past the idle adjust screws...inside of the carb was just soaked. I went to unscrew the fuel line from the carb, and it just blasted out like a shook pop bottle, it was very very hot fuel. I've never had this happen before.. Anyone have any ideas why? It's an 83 monte with a 350 and a q-jet.

Be careful! Gas in the eyes isn't a pleasant feeling. I learned that many years ago.

There's lots of variables that cause fuel to boil. The refinery additives alone can make the boiling point fluctuate between 100-400 deg F from what I've read. Did you use a different brand of gas recently?

You have to consider outside temp, engine temp, carb gasket/spacer, where the fuel line is routed (rubber hose laying on intake for instance), clogged EGR if you're running one, clutch fan vs spacer, running a shroud or not, etc. Hard to say without looking at the car but those are some ideas. Hope it helps.
