I have a 84 cutlass that started out as a V-6 car. I removed the V-6 to make room for a ZZ4 turn key. And since I have had problems with my fuel tank venting. I know I created the issue but now uncertain how to correct it. My fuel tank is equipped with a 3/8'' and 1/4'' line assuming the 1/4'' is a vent line. I did not reinstall the vapor canister with the swap so I just capped off the vent fuel line. My engine is equipped with a mechanical pump with a supply port and delivery but no return port. Do I put the canister back in? Or install a fuel pump with a return line port, or a fuel pressure regulator with a return port? I have been pondering this issue since I started my frame off restoration last fall. I also need to order fuel lines but uncertain what lines to order. Return line or another vent line. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

I have the same problem the engine was swapped from v6 to v8 and i didn't get a carbon canister with it so there's a fuel vent under my hood and idk what to do with it, i was told NOT to cap it but my engine bay smells like gas :?

I capped off both the return and the vent lines. To prevent a vapor lock issue, I drilled a very small hole in the gas tank cap to allow it to vent. Remember, the tank will expand and contract with temp changes and the more gas in the tank, the less effect temp has on it.
