This is true for some.

I regularly loan my 18' car hauler out to co-workers/friends w/the caveat it must be returned in the same condition or they're on the hook to pay for any damages. I usually get offered cash for the use but decline it once the tags are paid for the year. Had the trailer for 20yrs now so it's paid for itself.

I had so many issues back in my youth of trying to people please lending tools parts time ect. Ended up getting burned more often than not. So I may have just ended up a bit jaded and angry.
