Engineers at their finest. They know better than the guys on the line they say “ yup, here we go again!”You would figured ford would have learned from the pinto "experience"... and they did it again with the crown vic two decades later. smh

you forgot the Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptors with an issue similar to the Pinto (punctured rear tank). the Explorer was simply a tire issue
Not engineers, it's the management. Its like that everywhere. My last job where I was the engineer, me and my fellow guys had hell to deal with it when it came to management. What we came up with they needled to death to save money.Engineers at their finest. They know better than the guys on the line they say “ yup, here we go again!”

an LS engine has valvetrain issues? I don't believe it!All of the Panthers including MGMs and Towncars had the gas tank puncture issue. Only CVPIs received any of the factory fixes such as crash shields mounted on the rear axle and kevlar lined trunk inserts which did work. The CVPIs also had a fire supression system as a police exclusive option. Regular Panthers never got any protection for their gas tanks so TS for their buyers which makes P71s the safest version to drive. You can see the 3 crash shields to prevent gas tank punctures which are police package exclusives.
Police Explorers had a carbon monoxide issue caused by rear cabin vents placed too close to the tailpipe exit for extended idling. They are also prone to early water pump failures that typically blows the engine.
The Caprice PPV's LS engines often develop valve train issues and are difficlut to get parts for.
Police package BMWs can catch fire if driven at pursuit speeds.
Police package Dodges have too many issues to list here.
Management is top dog on save a penny but buy a $300 chair for their office. Then throw out a $1000 cabinet for “5S” cleaning. Not engineers, it's the management. Its like that everywhere. In the case of the Ford Pinto, Lee Iacocca literally told engineering to cut costs and don't put in a protective shield that they eventually did years later on a recall which was Federally ordered after lawsuits. This was like a $7 part they had designed already, times how many cars were produced. Basically it was calculated the cost of lawsuits and injury was less than producing this part on the car.
I wrote a report on this for one of my ethics classes while in college for my degree.
Need that comfortable chair to sit in when they just got done "massaging" the person above them..Management is top dog on save a penny but buy a $300 chair for their office. Then throw out a $1000 cabinet for “5S” cleaning.
Hell no, that's an Audi. She probably just wants me to fix something.
