future plans for my GP

there's a problem with that...i dont have a posi rear. and i have done a burn out with this one leg 2.41 gear rear but i dont feel like swapping the tires around to ensure they're nice and round. lol

though i might do it if the tires suck and need replacing. and i'll probably take a video of it to show what a 2.41 rear 3.8 V6 powered g-body can do!

god i hate my rear gear. my kingdom for a 3.08 or a 3.23.

You don't have to swap the tires around to burn them both. Do one burnout in drive, that will get the passenger side tire. Then do another bunout in reverse, that will get the driver side tire

The Pontiac crowd kinda shuns the 350.

Since the 400 was so popular it acually used to cost "more" to build a 350 due to piston prices.

So for less $ you got 50 more cubes.

Like everything else, as 400/455 get harder to find the 350 will/is getting built more.

I have the following cores if you decide to build: 326, 350, 455.

Also have a low mileage 455 short block and a set of rebiult 6x heads that would make an awesome low buck motor.

Just needs a cam/timing set and gasket set.

the site i found that sell all kinds of rebuilt engines actually has the 400 for less money than the 350 oddly enough. i thought the 350 would be cheaper if only by a few bucks. even with the core the cost is just over 2K which isnt that bad but i would still need all the parts for the engine like brackets and such but those can be had from a 301...and im pretty sure i can find one in a junkyard though im not 100% confident.

im kind of stuck in that i need it cheap BUT i also need it ready to drop in. i have done very little work in rebuilding engines and i just dont feel confident enough to do things like a timing chain and cam.

though i can also get a buick 455 from the same site and would replace the 3.8 i have currently. or a 350 as i think i could use the brackets i have now with the 350 if i went that route.

all i know is it has to be cheap and ready to drop in.

confound it!

my wife brought up a great idea that is making me rethink my choice of engines....the cadillac 500.

oh how i have forgotten about this high torque nugget, this 8.2 liters of cadillac thunder!

these things i keep forgetting are barely heavier than a SBC, have a high nickel content, are torque factories and even with only a few mods produce way more power than i could possibly need making it a good choice.

my only drawback is the cost of some of the parts 300 plus dollars for an intake for example. 400 bucks for a kit to drop it into my GP. however i can find rebuilt 500's for 1800 plus a core charge of 500 bucks. if a pontiac 350 would be a good choice for torque then a cadillac 500 would be even better.

i brought this up with her years ago when i first read about them. after seeing one i was stoked about it.

these things really dont need much to produce lots of power. i'll be honest, this thing will probably never be a race car but the gobs of torque will do well on the street and on the strip as i have been known to go to the local track for test and tune night.

with the ability to produce 500-600 foot pounds of torque with mild mods excites me. too bad i'll need a th400 behind it.

imagine a shaker that says 8.2 instead of 6.6...lol
