guys, running into an unforeseen problem. Can't find manf that makes headers for a manual transmission g body- possible hooker long tube headers, which I think will hang too low.... Any knowledge here? Otherwise custom made and drop serious $$.... Never even thought this would be a problem. Thx

As far as I know, there are other threads on this site, regarding this situation, and I believe that there are a couple of manufacturers that produce headers that will fit the manual transmission cars. Perhaps a search will show this info?

What engine are you running? If SBC what heads? (straight plug or angle plug). From what I've read on this site the Hedman Hussler long tubes fit with mechanical clutch linkage as well as the Hooker Super Comps. I passed on the Headmans as I remember because they are a two piece design where the collector slips on and I don't think they offered them stainless but it's been awhile. I passed on the Super Comps as they have a tube that wraps around the frame rail. I went with Flowmaster coated stainless long tubes whose primary application is a second gen Camaro. The catalog says they will fit a g-body with mechanical linkage. I haven't tried them yet. Oh, my engine is an SBC with Vortec heads. I hope this helps. Forgot to mention most shorties or mid length headers will work with mechanical linkage but require custom exhaust.

Hooker Super Comps will not work w/ manual trans.

Thanks for chiming in. I sure don't want to steer anyone wrong. I for sure read a thread where someone got the uncoated Hedmanns, had them welded together and had collector flanges welded on and then sent them out to be coated. This was for a car with mechanical linkage. I must be getting mixed up on which Hooker header will fit. I'm almost sure they have one that will work with mechanical linkage but as I remember it wouldn't work with angle plug heads.

Thanks for the help guys... Dart sbc 9" deck block, angle plug heads.... So far, we might try the Hooker super comp long tubes as they are for this years g body- but one of you say for sure they won't fit with mechanical linkage? If you know for sure these won't fit, please let me know how you know. Itsoming down to if these won't work, I'm going to have to have custom built. Thanks again.
