i bleed ford blue. but my son had his eye on an 85 monte ss and i bought it although it hurt me deep inside. i always told him, if money is no object someday...it will get a ford small block, t-5 and 9 inch rear. i will have a custom set of decals that say monte carlo gt, in the style of the 87-88 door decals.

I have heard and seen the only real fast fords have chevy engines in them. I have read about a fox body with a 455 buick motor in it that has to be fast as all hell.

Any thing is possible really

I am a huge fan of b*st*rd swaps that make sense. Some day, I hope to build a 1969 AMC Rambler American wagon with the AWD drivetrain, suspension and twin turbo inline six from a Nissan Skyline GTR R34. It would be painted flat black and have a NISMO (Nissan Motorsports) sticker on the windshield. Then again, I am also partial to the Honda B16 from a JDM Civic Type R swapped into an old British Mini (not the new BMW one).

Another interesting engine, besides the Ford 4.6, would be the Nissan VH56DE out of the Titan pickup. Then again, you could also use the Toyota 1UZ-FE out of a Lexus SC400, or even the mighty 2JZ-GTTE!

why not just keep the Type R? that's a sweet little car.

I'd love to see an AMC with Nismo on the side, lol. You might get shot in alabama with that, stay away 😀

Well...the CTR was never sold new in the US. Plus, the Civic hatch is just too big a car for my taste. if I am gonna have a small car, I want a small car. I'd also love to swap one into a Honda N600 Kei car, but I think that the engine bay would make it very hard.

I see. How hard would it be to swap a subaru EJ20 twin turbo (or EJ22 turbo) into something like an AMC? It'd be a great 4wd set up.

I know we're straying a bit from the original topic but the Rambler reference made it irresistable. SBC falls in a Rambler engine bay. I yanked the 196 / 3-on-the-tree in favor of a 327 / T5 / Mopar rearend. That car was insane fun and surprised more than a couple Mustang guys.
