also to add to my noob questions, can a shifter by the steering wheel be changed to a floor shifter?
 
Yes you change to a floor shifter. You will either need to remove the current linkage and remove the column shifter by pushing the little pin out of the steering column that holds it in, then install a floor shifter with a cable or change the column to a floor shift steering column that doesnt have this, remove your current linkage and install a floor shifter.

aha, ok that makes sense (and costs dollars HA!) so if i go with a grounded one some cutting maybe required on the floor?

has anyone done this to any gbody here? like some pictuers or how tos? ive searched but mostly worded stuff comes up.
