10 - Leaking T Tops
1- My Buick getting called a Monte

O man I HATE when people call my car a "Monte Carlo" or a "Regal!" Just the other day a guy told me he liked my "Grand National." :blam:

I thought long and hard about this, and comparing my G bodies with contemporary cars I could only come up with one;

No roll down rear windows in wagons 🙁 .

I liked the bench seat, the column shift, and had no issues with it's road manners.

Roger.

10- heat and heater controls
9-crappy windows that leak and flop around
8-7.5" rear
7-Junk A/C compressors that pile up
6-sbc but especially the awful 267 in Canadian Cutlass
7-Lack of EFI on most engines
5-No modern manual trans as an option
4-Cheap garbage wiring
3-Mostly 14" factory wheels
2-TH200 and 2.14 gear combo when OD was readily available
1-No value in these cars, worth nothing
I disagree on the early 307 and the diesel because of what it can become when built up.

X2 on all. Very well said.

None zero compared to the modern plastic garbage pails they build today called cars. If these cars are so bad why keep them?

Because they were something cheap to put an Olds V8 in, my 88 CSC came factory. Honestly the B bodies from these years are better cars. Just tough to find a nice looking 2 door Delta 88 plus the added weight. My Challenger would embarrass my Cutlass on a road course. You need 5 grand in suspension and brakes to compare. No car is perfect, they all have issues. Most new cars now look plain awful, period. The blind must design the exteriors.

1. I can't believe nobody has as their #1 bad thing the poisonous asbestos ceiling / headliner that turns into red powder and made me sick as hell until I noticed red clouds of dust falling out of it one day after I hit the
2. brakes which suck *ss stock and are smaller than the tampons many women use these days
3. stock suspension sucks car won't corner without some handling improvement efforts / boxed frame
4. the art of nice looking vinyl tops has kind of fallen off and most places that do offer tops it looks like trash
5. 5- blade fan sucks *ss
6. no temp gauge in base model sucks *ss
7. 'sealed beam' makes euro clip nice to look at but inconvenient to own on a daily driver
8. COP MAGNET
9. tough as hell in the south but crumbles from rust up North... very different owner experience based on climate
10. crappy lights make driving through a blizzard an adrenaline rush what would otherwise be a normal driving exp in newer car and front bumper setup makes addition of fog lights look extremely cheesy

The north is hard on all cars, even the newer ones. My Dad 2004 pickup has some rust holes in it's bed and had a brake line rust out. I have seen a lot newer cars than my Regal from the 2000s with far more rust.

However the factory paint jobs on G bodies are awlful. 305s and 307s were decent for the times, but performance cars become outdated very quickly in the last 25 years. Even LS1s are considered a bit outdated now compared to LS2s and LS3s, one day they will be outdated too. You accept an older car for what it is like a model T. To update an old car to modern standards costs more than just buying a new car in most cases.

1. Bad paint.
2. bad body work under vinyl tops
3. flimsy frame
4. stock rubber body mounts promotes rust
5. Being low emission cars limits your choices
6. Many replacement parts are no longer being made
7. alot of cool performance parts are no longer being made
8. Only performance area that is expanding for G bodies are LS conversion parts which are expensive swaps.
9. no cup holders
10. The frame and body can only handle 400 HP safely stock.

1. Bulky, oversized A/C box that takes up too much space
2. 231 N/A V6
3. TH200M Transmission
4. Regal bumper fillers
5. Cheap dry-rotted weatherstripping
6. Terrible paint quality
7. Rusty doors
9. Get associated with "hoodlums" for driving one
10. People telling me I should put hydraulics on it and paint it neon green.

I agree with the N/A 231, they last awhile but their power is very poor and the MPGs aren't great. Even my HO 305 is a godsend compared to my old 231 and it has the same MPGs even though it makes double the HP. Regal bumper fillers blow too.
