I just bought a new gas tank for my '85 Monte and I really don't want it to end up rusting out like my old one. What should I paint the tank with to keep it protected? I was thinking Por-15 since I have some left over.

POR-15 is probably your best bet. You definitely need something to handle debris

I used duplicolor truck bed liner on mine.

i've used a product from a brand called Kreem, but I've used it on my vintage dirt bikes, they may have a kit for cars/trucks as well

I have had good luck with asphalt undercoating on a few of my other vehicles. Whatever you decide to use make sure you clean off the oil on the part thoroughly so it sticks. Brake cleaner or washdown from an auto body supply place works well.

I use POR-15, followed by Body Undercoating, any brand is good.
