Gastank straps

I bought an aftermarket gastank for my 81 malibu the straps wont go on after i put the antisqueak liner on them any suggestions on alternate length straps thatll go around it?

When I bought a new tank and new straps it all came as a set but I still had to bend them to get them to fit. I also had to use longer bolts in the front of the tank because the original bolts were too short and wouldn't reach. It's a fun job by yourself.

Did you put the bolts in from the top or through the strap hole facing up

did you contact the company you bought the tank from to ask them about the straps?
