Gauge housing

I got a gauge housing for a monte carlo with the the idiot lights. I need to know if the housing is the same for gauges and tach? I am referring to the piece that mounts to the dash and the circuit board fits to.

I know the houseing/cluster is the same as far as size, mounting, appearance, whatever. As far as hooking it up I'm unsure but now I'm curious also cause I want to throw an SS cluster in my LS. Someones got to know.........

no. IIRC, you will need the whole housing to switch to factory style gauges. i may be wrong though.

Housings are different, in the center on the back has spring clips to make contact with the gauge terminals, on cars with lights there is just a circle with a couple of notches to fit the bulb holders. This isn't a very good explanation without a pic to compare.

Yeah, this is correct. Although I wired up gauges with an idiot light housing and circuit. You just have to do some research and be creative.

So no plug and play different harnes but if you want the factory look use a harness of the doner car or rune new wiring from sensor to gauge or after market
