This sh*t cracks me up. By now most know who I am or whom I work for and whom I worked with to get a ton of parts to the aftermarket. If it wasn't for my supervisor buying into the program and Gbodyparts investing in the samples and both of our research and development, it would have gone nowhere. Many even on this forum thought I was full of sh*t, not naming anyone but you would normally get the "yea right, sure you do" reaction when I first announced what my plans were to help the cause. I am not bragging....I am more or less venting. I had the previous owner of Goodmark laugh at me when he heard I inherited a Cutlass Supreme and I had plans to develop parts for it. He commented, that's no "muscle car!" I bit my tongue and went on doing what I did. Through my first restoration I got some PUI seat covers. No matter what I tried I could not figure out how to put the bucket seats on. I argued with Brian at Gbody that they didn't fit. I even bet him a lifetime of buying him beer at restaurants the covers didn't fit! So he set up a meeting with me and PUI since they are close to Cincinnati. So I visited a sales manager named Ron there. He was quite cocky upon meeting them. When I gave thanks for the help and asked what items would be next for the gbody line he as well laughed at me and commented " we supported Gbodyparts on those covers only and they are NOT our focus, our focus is on "muscle cars."

Well here you go folks! This sh*t cracks me up! You all wonder why I did so fast what we did?... It's the story above,

FYI, Ron is no longer at PUI and is owned by my neighbors Trim Parts in Lebanon Ohio, thank goodness!

God's honest truth!

Good for you, i had the same thing when i quit my full time job to work for myself. People talked alot of crap but here i am after 7 years still afloat. Glad you did the same, people are jealous.

Maybe when I first started reading your posts I was like lets wait and see.
When I seen you where about your business ok this Toby is for REAL!!! Never really doubted you, Been one of your biggest
supporters. Keep up the good work.
Gbarrie.

It makes sense to me the G-Bodys would start to get hot.
All that cheap plastic has a tendency to get brittle flake and crack, the cheap fabric they used isn't much better.
Despite this I still like the cars

That same mentality was prevalent in the 80's/early 90's about 2nd Gen F-Body's and '68-'72 A Body's... today those cars are pretty much buildable from scratch and destroyed originals are worth more than a minty G Body (save for Turbo Regal/GNs). If the economy wasn't so bad right now, '78-88 A/G Body's and 3rd Gens aka '82-'92 F-Body's would be in much higher demand.... just before the crash in '08, I was making good coin off of parts for A/G those same cars... and there is still money to made, albeit a much narrower window of opportunities.

Well G bodies aren't really muscle cars, they are more like luxury cars.

Even with the more deluxe interior I'd hardly call a Malibu or EL Camino a luxury vehicle

x2 they were sold new as family cars.

I would never buy anything from PUI after hearing the reviews for the 64-72 stuff, Legendary is the way to go... PUI is known for being the cheap alternative.
And it doesn't surprise me that they come out with half assed reproduction seat covers that aren't even close to the originals in color or material and don't even have the escutcheon in the middle of the upper cover.
Also the seat buns are very firm and not cushy like the originals.
They should know from dealing with the 64-72 cars that people restoring their cars want original looking stuff.
I hope Legendary comes out with a decent interior soon... I cringe every time I see a $12k Hurst Olds with incorrect upholstery.
Yes it's nice to see aftermarket stuff but you'd sell more of it if it was done right the first time... just poor business tactics.
As they say, do it right or do it twice.

So were the 64-72 'true' muscle cars.

A G-Body is nothing more than a newer version of the 64-72 A-Bodys. They're all nothing more than midsized GM cars that came in various trim from a stripped down granny car to sporty performance ( though the actual performance lacked of course ).

With that being said there is no one true definition of what a muscle car really is so debating whether some G-Body's were 'true' muscle cars is kinda pointless IMO.
