i too had high hopes for that book but it's sheer marketing.with Mark Savitske's book you'll be much happier with how he breaks down most everything with suspension working's and the down falls to the designs behind them. that and it's a much better read too.i referenced it more than a few times when trying to decide what way to go.he's a knowledgeable guy

I created my own "Manual" of sorts using any G-Body and Olds article I could find (CarCraft, Hot Rod, Pop Hot Rodding etc.) Then I turned to the internet and printed out Tech posts Engine Combo's, etc from GBodyForum, RealOldPower, OldsPower, Pro-Touring.com, Olds FAQ, and anywhere else that had posts or tech tips I thought I needed. I then just collected everything in one 3 ring binder and Tabbed it to Hell.

Here's a still from a video I did. You'll also see an 87 Shop Manual just behind it. EVERYONE needs one of those!

Please come back and give us a rating of Joe Hinds' Gbody Performance Upgrades book. I can always use an expansion of my reading collection.

Hutch

I kept all my magazines with Monte Carlo SS articles from the 80’s. Plenty of road tests and a few upgrade articles. Have a few of the Car Craft issues from the 90’s where they upgraded a SS.

Best part of the collection is when I feel like getting nostalgic and reading some of the old articles that remind of some tricks I might have forgotten about like the ecm chip upgrades/swaps that were popular and computer carb enhancements for example.

I looked through the G body book the OP listed and did not find much to spark my interest. Would have liked to have seen it in parts with a complete history of the G bodies first, popular upgrades, even a restoration section showing a car being rebuilt and restored with tips and tricks, options, that could apply to any of us with a G body. Similar to what you might see in magazines when they do rebuilds, engine upgrades, stuff like that.

The book to me just seemed to be a way to put friends cars in a book and the information was nothing new, and as others mentioned, available on this and many websites.

The one thing I learned from that book was the Blazer knuckle swap. Probably sparked the market for this swap. On the other hand, I talked to Mark Savitske, and it never sounded like it was the thousandth time he explained the big brake swap over the phone. He seems to love what he does.
