gbody rear ends

are all gbody rear ends the same.. will they all interchange.. like a rear end out of a regal fit in a monte ss..

for the most part yes. depending if its a 7.5 or an 8.5 ya might need to get another driveshaft. im not 100 percent shure but some one with some more noggin powers will chime in. also use the "search" feature...

the 7.5/7.625's will directly interchange. the 8.5, if replacing the 7.5, needs a 1in shorter drive shaft and vice versa.

B-body wagon rears are wider.

All G-body rears are the same width.

You are correct. B-body wagons use wider rear axles than B-body sedans to allow a sheet of plywood to fit flat in the wagon. This is unrelated to G-body cars since all B-body rear ends are wider than G-body axles.

Ahh now I see. I just read about the wider wagon ones a few days ago. And it really had me confused. But I never noticed the b body part lol.

UNLESS you want to swap a wider one in for wheels that have more backspacing 😀 Still considering it for mine, but have yet to find measurements for a B-Body rear (sedan or wagon).
