Ive already got a post going asking if anyone make a higher gear for an 8.5 rear. I'm looking for around 5.80 and the highest ive seen for sale is 5.57. Thinking about it a little and got wondering. A 5.57 pinion is 7 tooth... A 5.13 has a 41 tooth ring gear.... Putting those two together would make a 5.86. Would this really work?

The higher the number the deeper the gear ratio which means you will go slower. What is the purpose if this vehicle beacuse with thise gears you eiuld only be able to drive it on a 1/8 th mile drag strip. In reality your idea would work but there should be a gear ratio converter online somewhere or call richmond gears or some other place.

Okay. Just making sure. Take the number of teeth on the ring and the number of teeth on the pinion and multiply those and that is the gear ratio you will have. Just make sure you shim everything right. Hope that helps.
